I fell off the nicotine wagon
Well guys sorry I haven't blogged in a while but it was because of my father's passing however I am here blogging today to let you all know that I did fall off the nicotine wagon after 60 days of abstinence. I'm kinda embarrassed about it but all I can do is keep trying. I really felt it today when I was in the garage trying to start the leaf blower and after about 20 pulls, I got really winded to the point that I had to sit down for about 20 minutes. I guess the 89 degree heat didn't help but the point is I was tired and being 50 years old doesn't help either...LOL I'll keep fighting this dammed addiction. It really does suck. I hate it.

Day 8 Smoke Free
Woke up in a good mood. I ate my All Bran, washed my face, brushed my teeth, got dressed and went for my 3 mile walk in Wyandotte, MI. It felt great to finally go for my walk as it's been about 2 weeks since the last time. That's when I started to feel my health slipping and I was trying to stay in and recover from what ever it was getting me down. As we all know it was bronchitis or pneumonia combined with C.O.P.D.
As I was walking today I was thinking about my last blog about self-discipline. Right now it is something I have to think about regularly(about not picking up that first cigarette). Hopefully in time I will not have to think about it but for right now this is the way I have to do it. They say it takes 21 days to start a habit well, if it takes that long to create a good habit of not smoking, then all I have is time.
The rest of this day I will get my new 32" TV up and running in time for the 8pm LIONS vs Saints kickoff. Life is GOOD! :)
Self-Discipline

The reason I am blogging about this term is because I will be trying to incorperate self-discipline with not smoking and some other areas in my life. At 50 years old there is always room for improvement.
An old timer once told me that whatever you do for the better is a building block for your foundation. I find this true in many areas in my life however, some areas need attention now such as cigarette smoking and over eating which I am now starting to address do to the short stay in the hospital recently.
I am learning that self-discipline is like building muscle. The more you train it, the stronger you become mentially and physically. If I take this approch and think of not smoking for one extra minute, it will be sorta like that extra rep you take while lifting weights. I have to take this one minute at a time for right now and hopefully it will turn to one hour at a time then days at a time. I don't care if I have to screem in my pillow or lock myself in the house. I want this for me and it is going to take self-discipline to overcome.
Old time once said "Ya keep getting what your getting cause ya keep doing what your doing, if you don't like what your getting, CHANGE what your doing"!... I can see his point now!
"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"!

Roger's Life with Asthma
I started my young life in and out of Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit main) with asthma attacks. Back then the only way they knew how to control it was to keep me hydrated with I.V's, give me prednisone, and keep me in an oxygen tent for weeks on end. This went on for several years with brief stays at home to which I had to stay in my dust free room and only come out to eat.
As the years went on the doctors found it hard to keep me stable and suggested in 1972 that I go and live at a children's asthma research institute hospital called C.A.R.I.H. As I arrived January 10th 1972 w/ Mom and grandma in tow I remember checking in at the office but don't remember much after that because of an attack. I stayed 2 years and then came back home.
My life has been a struggle but manageable with medications for asthma and A-topic dermatitis however, any slight allergy, cold or flu would set off an attack or a bout of the itchies. Although I have millions of stories I am going to tell just this one.
One day our neighbor came over and set a plate on our kitchen counter and said it was for my Dad. It looked real good, sorta like fried chicken. I was so hungry that day that I thought to myself "Oh' Dad won't miss a piece" and I took one and went in the other room and took a bite. A few seconds later, I feel to my knees gasping for air. Everyone was yelling but I couldn't hear what they were saying. All I remember was Dad picking me up and running me out to the ambulance. It seemed like forever to get to the hospital. When I woke up the doctors told me I had an allergic reaction to the fish. I've never toughed it again.
In my teen years I started rebelling and hanging out with the goof balls and smoking. I am now 50 y/o and finding that my C.O.P.D. is getting worse. I guess it's time to stop rebelling and let it go. IF I want to live! :)
God Bless!
Friday Morning. Smoke Free?
It's 1-6-2012 at 8am in the morning and I'm sitting here with my morning coffee. This isn't a normal morning where I would've already had 3 cigarettes before sitting at the computer. I'm sitting here checking facebook and emails w/o my mind telling me "OK Bud, time for a smoke" well...it is but it is very faint because I am wearing a nicotine patch. Hopefully I have enough patches to last until the obsession and compulsion is gone. If not, well I guess I'll get more.
Being in the hospital this time for five days was a great start quitting smoking and an eye opener too however, I do know that I will have to limit myself as to how much time I can hang out with my friends for a while because some of them smoke too. I don't think they would erg me to smoke but you never know. I might even be in a weak spot in my mind and smell it and trigger off that "GIMMIE A DAMN SMOKE"....LOL We go through a lot of feelings and emotions when we quit and have to keep vigilant of our goal and that is to be smokeless at the end of the night when we lay down to sleep. Yes, if we don't smoke, it's a successful day!
God Bless!

Quitting Smoking isn't Easy in Detroit

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been busy living life and doing things that I should. Recently 12-30-2011 I checked into Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital (south from Detroit) suffering from flu like symptoms.
I parked my truck out by the emergency room and had to walk approx. 100 yards to the front door of the emergency room to check in after going to my doctors 20 minutes prior to that to see what the doc wanted me to do. He said "Just go to the emergency room and I'll call and tell them your coming" When I got there, here come the I.V's breathing treatments, coughing up mucus, sweating, stomach and muscle pain from coughing. I was a mess for the first 72 hours. Then the symptoms started easing w/ all the medications they were giving me like I.V. steroids and antibiotics, plus breathing treatments and oxygen w/ warm mist. Now I'll have to tell you that if this ever happens to you, tell the doc that you want the machine that delivers oxygen and warn mist. That really helped a lot.
I will stop in every so often on this blog to let you know about my success or failure of quitting smoking. I hope I won't be blogging about failure because as of right now I feel great but am struggling about not thinking of a cig. Hell I did it subconsciously for 32 years. This is going to be a challenge.
Many, Many Thanks to the nurses and doctors of Henry Ford Hospital Wyandotte for helping me in my time of need. You all are a very special crew. From the ER docs and nurses to the 6th floor nurses. Thanks Again.
C.O.P.D. or chronic obstructive pulmonary (PULL-mun-ary) disease, is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. "Progressive" means the disease gets worse over time.COPD can cause coughing that produces large amounts of mucus (a slimy substance), wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms.

Heroes Don't Wear Capes They Wear Dog Tags

I seen this phrase on a t-shirt I seen while surfing the net. I thought it would make a great decal for someone with a loved one in the military or a retired veteran. It would look great on any tinted window or any clean flat dark surface. It measures 6.5" tall x 8" wide and is made from long lasting white vinyl.
You can purchase this Heroes Don't Wear Capes They Wear Dog Tags Decal in my bonanza store.

My 48 CC Motorized Mountain Bike by the Detroit River
I had eight people stop and ask me questions about my bike. Like where do I get the motor kits, how much do the cost, do the police pull you over, how fast does it go, what kind of gas mileage do I get, do you need a special licence to operate it, do you need a helmet? I kindly answered all their questions.
Over all it was a fantastic night to ride. Even got a few beeps!...LOL

Assembled Motorized Beach Cruiser Bicycle w/ 48CC Motor
Assembled Motorized Beach Cruiser Bicycle w/ 48CC Motor
This is my newest build. A Huffy 26" mens beach cruiser bicycle named "Big Daddy" It is flat black and red. I bought this bike at a local Meijer's store with the intention of building a great looking bike that would be fun to ride. This motorized bike can be driven as a bicycle too. Simply disengage the clutch and you'll enjoy the simplicity of a bicycle.
The great thing about these kind of bikes is it's diversity. It can be road as a bicycle on a nice summer night or as a motor bike running errands, to the post office, to your local store, or a long ride to a friends house. Where ever you ride this bike will be a fun experience.
State of Michigan laws states a motorized bike with a motor 48CC or lower is considered a bicycle and rider should comply with bicycle laws. Thats whats so great about these bikes and also it travels 150 MPG and goes 35 MPH. Hows that for beating the system....LOL
This bike is available for sale. It will be a local pick up only. Location: South of Detroit, MI (Downriver) You can contact me at Kingmoose599@yahoo.com
Price $450.00 sorry, No Test Rides!

Motorized Bicycles by Roger's Stuff
This particular bicycle shown was the fist one I made. When I planned this bike I didn't want to make it like the usual beach cruiser type with the wide handle bars and huge white wall tires. Nope I wanted it to be different so I looked for a mountain bike that would except the motor and accessories needed to run the bike and this is what I came up with. It was a hit the first ten minutes I was riding it. As I was driving down the street a guy drove up and rolled down his passenger window and yelled "He man, do you know how fast you are going"? I said "Whats that"? He said "35"!!! We both laughed.
Yes, it's true. These bike really go 35 mph and will travel 150 mpg. <=== Thats One Hundred and Fifty Miles Per Gallon of Gasoline. Just think of all the money you can save running to the store, mailing letters or running other errands. Simply add a wire basket to carry items in, like I did. Be sure to lock it up though because they do attract a lot of attention.
Another great fetcher about these bikes is that you can pull the clutch grip located on the handle bar and ride it as a bicycle too. I usually will do this when I'm at a car show or festival during the summer. Oh' and also, in Michigan you don't need a licence to operate this kind of bike as long as you ride it as a bike and follow your state or local bike laws. I just ride with traffic on the side of the road and stop at stop signs and traffic lights and the cops never say anything. Last summer I had four cops in neighboring cities pull me over and chat about the bike.
If you would like to ask me anything about these kind of motorized bike don't hesitate to ask. Simply drop me a line at kingmoose599@yahoo.com and title it "Roger's Motor Bike" and I will get back to you that day.
"Happy Riding"

Shipping
Well everyone we are upon the Holiday shipping season once again. I'd like to remind everyone that postal workers are stressed and are working long hours to make sure ours packages arrive in a timely manner. Remember that our packages are not always handled in the way that they should so, be sure to glue the packages flaps and use extra tape to ensure that your package will not come apart in rough handling.
Another thing I like to do during the winter months (well I do it all the time or try to remember to)
is always place a clear piece of over sized tape over your address and return labels. This is a good practice to use because damp weather might make the labels run and unable to read costing everyone time and money.
Also be sure any extra space in your box is filled with packaging material. This makes the package less resistant to crushing.

Cyber Monday was Bad
Ok everyone, ... here's my thoughts on cyber Monday. I sat here all day tweeting and facebooking to no avail. My site had lots of views but no sales. So, my conclusion on advertising like a mad man doesn't work on social sites. I guess the article I posted about which is better? SEO or Social Media? is correct as far as advertising to people that already know what Items, products or services you offer.
It's like having a yard sales and trying to sell to your neighbors that already know what you have to offer. We have to think outside the box and figure out the best way to advertise to people outside of social media groups. Some ways to do this is advertise on your vehicle with vinyl lettering or graphics because not only are the same people seeing your advertisements everyday, so are other people seeing it for the first time. I think of it as opening the phone book and showing the people on the bus your Ad everyday. Some will have already seen it however there will be new people on that bus whom never have seen it.
An other way is to advertise on sites like craigslist.org or upillar.com.
Do a search on "Classified Ads" or "Classifieds" and you will see a lot of sites that let you post an ad for free. Usually the sites at the top are the top sites to list on because they've been the longest running or are most popular. (be sure to never leave any personal information on classified sites) Just leave a link to your selling site. Good Luck!

Which Is Better? SEO or Social Media?
by Conrad WaltonTo all my friends that sell online. You really need to read this article about shoppers behaviors and how they shop online when it comes to purchases. This article states that When someone needs or wants to buy, they particular item they search for it rather then visual site purchasing. What this article is saying that we can tweet and facebook all we want but a sale only comes when an item is needed or wanted through searches. This is why using the best keywords works for selling on the net.
